Privacy Policy

Last updated July 12, 2026

The short version: Daily Canvas doesn't collect your personal information, doesn't track you, and doesn't sell anything about you. Your favorites and preferences live in your own iCloud account — we never see them. That's the whole idea.

What we don't do

Your content stays in your iCloud

Your favorite artworks, viewing history, and app preferences sync across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit, stored in your own private iCloud database. This data is tied to your Apple ID, not to us — we have no access to it and no ability to read it. If you sign out of iCloud or disable it for Daily Canvas, this syncing simply stops.

Anonymous, aggregate analytics

To understand which features are used and to fix problems, Daily Canvas uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These signals are anonymous and not linked to your identity — TelemetryDeck is designed so that individual users cannot be identified, and no persistent advertising identifier is used. These signals record which features and artworks are used and how the app performs — for example which paintings are popular, how many people complete wallpaper setup, or whether a purchase succeeded — but they are aggregated and never linked to your identity or to a profile of you. TelemetryDeck's own privacy information is available at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Photos access

On iPhone and iPad, if you use the wallpaper or Apple Watch face features, Daily Canvas saves artwork images into your own Photos library (in albums it creates) so you or the Shortcuts app can set them as wallpaper. The app only adds images — it never reads, uploads, or transmits your existing photos, and this access is used solely on your device.

Wallpaper automation

The daily wallpaper feature works through Apple's Shortcuts app using an automation you create yourself. That automation runs entirely on your device. If you opt in to synchronized daily updates, our server sends a silent background signal to your devices at midnight — this signal contains no personal data and simply tells the app to refresh. We store only an anonymous device push token to deliver it, and never associate it with your identity.

Artwork

All artwork is sourced from open-access collections of institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Rijksmuseum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Images are delivered from our content network purely to display art in the app.

Children

Daily Canvas is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because we don't collect personal information at all, there is nothing for us to gather from any user regardless of age.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the revised version here. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this site.
